Innovation Contest started: spread the word, and consider your own application!
Within the EIT ICT Labs community and beyond many smart minds are puzzling with great ideas. It might be a simple service or a revolutionary product that will change the world. To bring innovation to life is one of EIT ICT Labs essential missions.

In February our German core partner Deutsche Telekom launched a new worldwide innovation contest to find these great ideas and turn the best into a real product or service and bring it to market. Deutsche Telekom Group is providing resources valued at EUR 500,000 to develop the idea. EIT ICT Labs Germany is contracted to conceptualize and implement the contest, which is open for all partners, start-ups, students, teams, or individuals within or beyond the EIT ICT Labs community.

Please spread the message and inform your network on this great opportunity.  If you have yourself a breaking idea, please participate!

With further questions or application details, please contact Tobias Heger, Project Lead (op.) Telekom Innovation Contest, or visit

Software Campus: selection of the next class of IT leaders of tomorrow
High ranking partners from academia and industry are looking for excellent Master's and PhD students of computer science and information technology as well as of related disciplines with relevant IT knowledge. In April 2013, we open up the application period for the next class of participants.

Software Campus participants develop innovative academic IT projects and benefit from an individually tailored industrial leadership curriculum involving outstanding academics and managers. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provides funding of up to EUR 100,000 for each project.

All young IT experts with leadership and/or entrepreneurial potential are welcome to apply, under the notable boundary condition that at the start of the program participants must be either enrolled at one of the partner universities or work at one of the partnering research facilities.

More information at or Erik Neumann, Project Lead Software Campus at the EIT ICT Labs Germany.

Things to know about EIT ICT Labs Germany
There is a lot to see and do in our Co-Location Centre in Berlin. The two above examples are probably just the most profiled ones. Since the beginning of the year we hosted several kick off activities for this year's working program.

Furthermore we have initiated or participated in thought leadership and think tank events and we initiated a series of vision workshops for Internet Technologies and Architecture on a European level in order to define the future shape of the Action Line and fill the currently vacant position of Action Line Leader. Furthermore, we co-presented mobile innovations with our partners at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

And much more is to come! By this news flash and future ones to come, I want to inform you crisply and shortly on upcoming activities at EIT ICT Labs Germany that are probably unique. At the same time I cordially invite you to participate and encourage you to keep in touch, with an e-mail by replying to this news flash or to myself, or just by coming by. I look forward to seeing you soon in our Co-Location Centre in Berlin.

Kind Regards,
Udo Bub,
Managing Director & Node Director EIT ICT Labs Germany
